    Termination of fathers rights/adoption
i am the mother of 2 children ages 5 and 2 1/2 they haven't seen their biological father in over 17 months thats his own fault he could've seen them he hardly pays his child support and when he does he only has to pay 72.00 per week which is nothing really my 5 year old doesn't want to see him and my 2 1/2 year old don't even know him i would love to know how i can terminate his parental right i have been with a wonderful man for 2 years and 3 months and my kids call him daddy they love him and he loves them he is ready willing and able to adopt them we have taken care of their every needs financially, emotionally, and every other way parents are supposed to be there for their children we are a very happy family and it would traumatize my children to be ripped away from their happy home and they would need extensive therapy the court awarded me full custody please give me some advise i am so confused:confused:  I live in the state of South Carolina

Ask him to give up his rights. He just has to sign a form in front of the notary public and go to the court and stand before the judge. If he agree's, yourself, and your husband, then the Judge with grant it. The process can be done within about 3-6 mo. However, if he is difficult to locate, you will need to go through more hoops. Still seek out your state laws.
Easy to do... Go to the courthouse and ask to see information about filing for adoption... at least in Utah...

Not pretty sure but if I am not mistaken in SC you have to be married 1 year and after that year your husband will be able to file for step-parent adoption.
