I still suffer mentlly wondering why he would do that to his 1st born while he has had other children and took very good care of them. I don't know if you can sue for abandonment. You (in some states) can sue for child support owed to you, or you could get over it and make a life for yourself without him. My mother left when I was young too, I was raised mostly by my father and never once has the thought of suing her came into my mind. We had hard times, and times with no money and very little food and no she never paid support, but I still love her. Yes, I have some abandonment issues at times, but I have learned to deal with the life I was given and work toward the things I want. Our life wasn't so hard because my mother didn't pay, our life was hard because my father gave up when she left. He didn't work as much as he should have, and he was tired. I don't blame him for the difficulties we had, nor do I blame her. You do not have to be a product of your environment, if you live a life without trials, your triumphs really don't seem all the great. It is the hards times that make you who you are, and without them you wouldn't be you. I say be happy with you, and everything else will fall into place. Seek therapy for your head, and learn forgiveness with your heart.
