Single mother dating someone with 12 yr old felony record.
I have been dating someone with a felony record for the past few months. I truly believe that he is reformed. He was 20 at the time of the incident and has never had another problem. I have read all of the records, which I personally drove 5 hours each way to obtain.

My daughter is almost 1. I am pregnant by this man. We are both in our early 30s now. My sister ran a background check on him, flipped out, and involved my parents. He has a 3rd degree felony for burglary of a habitation and a 1st degree felony for injury to a child (he squeezed his son's leg and left a bruise). He plead guilty to everything and talks openly about what caused it to happen, what he has done to correct the problem, and the fact that he knows full well what e did was wrong and that it will never happen again. My father has read all of the records and given us his blessing. My mother hasn't spoken to me since she found out about his record. My sister seems to think that she or my mom could "easily take my daughter away" if I continue to see this man. She said "there's not a judge in the state of Texas who would not intervene on behalf of the child". Is this really the case? I love my daughter. I am an educated person with a masters degree. She has everything she could want. He made a mistake - a bad one - 12 years ago. He has paid his debt. No probation or anything like that. I believe in second chances.

Can my mom and sister have my daughter taken away?

I see the reason for the concern. Not the stealing but the hurting a child, it showed he had most likely a temper issue. I doubt they can take the child away ( at this point) but they can get social services involved and they are likely to keep a very close eye and do investigations.
Let there be a bruise or cut that is not witnessed by others, and who knows what could happen.
