    Grandmother rights
Hi my girl friend has 2 granddaughters from her son that past away about 5 yrs ago, his wife uses the girls to get what she wants from the family, not to long ago she had moved back to Michigan. She was only back here for about 5 months and then she just packed up and moved back to ashland, Tn. With out telling anyone. The way we found out was a friend of the family and hers got a call that she did want my girl friend family to know that the youngest makala had gotten hit by a car crossing the road to go to school, I had to call the state police in tn which they lead me to the ems, then they told me she was at the children's hospital there so they gave me the number to the hospital and they directed me to the ER where she was at. And then I talked to stacy's boy friend not her and he only told me she had only bumps and bruses. So then I asked him to have stacy's call sue and let her know what's going on. Then sue had called the child protection services to be told that the hospital already called then and made a report. Now you have to understand that these 2 girls ar sues life the only things that link her to her son anymore, and stacy will not call her at all. Sue is so deperessed right now and upset she doesn't know what action to take in fear that stacy will keep her from seeing the girls at all. I had the chance to see a video of sue's son and I must say those to girls are just like their dad and understand and I understand what sue is talking about now. Please can someone help my girlfriend we don't have a lot of money for a lawyer.

Unfortunately there is little Sue can do. While TN law does support grandparent rights (see www.parentsrights.com - Tennessee Grandparents Rights Summary), there seems to be no existing order that would have prevented the mother from moving.

So Sue may have to file in MI to obtain any visitation. Bottomline is she is going to need an attorney to help her properly file for visitation.

That's good to know we were wondering if she could file in Michigan but to find an attorney that's with in budget. Ty you sue has been in their life sense her sons death and the girls has always said they would rather live with sue then their own mother and I can see why I have been around this time to see that is true. For a lot of reasons I have went to go pick them up and there is food all over the house on the floor and there is stuff all over the house where you can't even walk through the house the girl never have clothes that fit them she has 4 kids the 2 girl are from sue's son and the 2 boys are from the guy that is in tn. I can see that its not a good envirment for them and the last straw was makala getting hit by the car. At this point we don't know what's going on if she is all right or not because stacy will not give sue the 4 diget password so she can talk to the nurse or even if makala is out of the hospital. Its getting to sue not knowing what's going on there.
