    Nonparental custody
Hello I have an extremely sticky situation. My sister and her husband have just been arrested for a very serious crime. They have a six week old baby that right now is at my mothers. I don't feel that my stepfather would be the best person to raise the baby because he is a very verbally abusive man. I want custody of the baby. My sister and her husband would sign custody over to me but I don't know how to file paperwork and I really don't have the money. I could use some direction. Thanks.

First step is of course for them to tell your mother to let you physcially have the baby.

But in the end, you will need to file a motion in family court for temp custody
