    If the father works away can he get custody? Child wants father.
    If the father works away from home for 30 days and then is home for 15 days, can he get custody of child in Louisiana? The child is 13 years old and wants to be with her father. The father's mother is willing to take care of child while he is working. The child's mother has some issues with drug abuse. They are just starting the divorce action, so there isn't any court orders yet.

    Custody is always a guess, he may get it, or he may get joint custody with mother.
    Depends on amount of drug abuse and what can be proven in court,? Police records ? Treatment records ? What or how will the drug use be proven in court ?

    But it is possible, he will just have to file and see what happens.

    If the mother doesn't oppose custody, there there shouldn't be a problem.
