Husband bought vehicle in his name only. Do I have any ownership according to TN law?
My husband and I have been separated live in Tennessee and he bought a vehicle in his name only and his truck was seized in a DUI. Can I get it back for him since we are married?

You need to ask an attorney. Does he have an atty for his case?

Yes he does.. and no I do not want his truck and would never have taken it from him... Just want him to get it back. Really nice, low mileage and we think they are going to make the buy back price to high for us. Just did'nt know if I could get it since we are still together

Would have been pretty simple if my name would have been on the title, cause I could have gone and demanded my truck back

What do you mean "get it back for him" I assume he is out of jail, you and he go together, you pay the towing fee, the impound fee and the storage fee, and he proves ownership and you drive it away, since I assume his license is suspended.
If he is in jail, he can sign a POA to allow you to act on his behalf to get the truck out of impound

Why was it impounded in the first place? Was it just because he could not drive at the time of the dui arrest? You, technically are partial owner of the truck also. If it was only impounded because` there was no one to drive it , then you should be able to pay the impound charge and drive it home. There is something that you haven't told us if that isn't possible.

Was not driving... asleep when officer woke him up... less than a mile from home... believe I am not happy about this and not defending him in anyway. Just want to get the vehicle without paying an arm and three legs for it... very nice, low mileage and almost paid off... and they know it.. so we are afraid the state will ask for a great deal of money which we do not have..

I think as long as you are still married in the eyes of the law, you own half of it. I would just find out where it is impounded and find out what the charges are. The longer it sits in th impound, the more it will cost you.

That is incorrect. Tennessee is not a community property state.
