Where? In general you cannot. That is your daughter until someone adopts her.

    What is the problem?

If the step mom is willing to adopt, they will need to file for the adoption. Short of that, sorry you can not just sign over your rights. You do not have to use your rights, you don't have to visit, and you don't have to ever see the child.

And "you" owe support until someone else adopts the child.

I love my daughter I haven't seen or talked to her in 4 yrs father filed abandonment papers on me with all false information I didn't even have a chance in court he has remarried she knows her as her mother not me I have 2 other children and I'm getting a settlement of 18,000$ I owe child support I do not have a problem paying the child support that owe but I have 2 other children that I have visitation with I want to be able to split it into 3 ,child support won't let me . My 6yr old daughter has another life with her father she doesn't know me nor her brother and sister he won't allow then to see each other or even allow me to ! The only way for me to support ALL of my children is to turn over my parental rights and I can split that into 3 I don't want any of the money but why should my 2 older children suffer when it could be split into 3. Even if I were able to sign over my rights I'm still sending her the support money. Im so lost on what to do and I'm willing to take all the info and opinions I can get!

You were charged with abandoning the child? That's difficult in most States unless you practically left her alone at the bus station. I don't know what you mean that you have 2 other chldren and want to be able to split "it" into 3 - ? In my State the first child gets a certain percentage and then each following child gets less. You lost custody of all 3 children? Same father?

If you are talking about splitting the MONEY into three parts you have to obey the Court Order. Do you pay support on the other 2?

Visitation and custody are totally diffferent from support - you can have one and not the other. They are not related.

My advice? Unless the Court says you can't see or have contact with the child I'd go back to Court and ask for visitation, even supervised at first. If there is no Court Order or the Court Order says you do see the child, you're in an even better place to get visitation.

What do you think you are accomplishing if you surrender your rights? You still won't see her and you still have to support her.

Have you asked the father and stepmother if they want to allow you to adopt the child? They might be willing to do that.

I think we need more info in order to advise you properly.

I gave you a LOT of info on your other thread. PLEASE stop opening new threads. I know you know how to use the site because you've been using AMHD appropriately.

Posting more than once does NOT give different answers. This is a legal question and that's where it belongs.

OK 4 and 1/2 yrs ago I found out I was pregnant with my 4 child (the daughter I'm talking about is my 3rd child ). I told him everything that was going on I lived in tampa at the time I wasn't going through a good time so my 2nd child's father asked me if I would stay with him in hollywood,fl to watch my daughter because they couldn't afford daycare so I agreed and my 6 yr old father( this is the daughter I'm talking about) knew about it he was OK with it my daughter resided with him for about 3 months until I figured out what I was going to do I decided to give up my 4th child for adoption and when I returned home and went to see my daughter he handed me court papers stating that I abandoned my daughter he got full custody I haven't had the money to fight it in court she has lived with him for 4 yrs now she knows his wife as her mother I'm OK with that she's happy that's all that matters. I have fixed my life since giving up my 4th child and losing custody of my 6 yr old she is the only 1 I owe child support to. No they are not the same father all 4 different ones(im not perfect please don't judge me). I am a part of my 2 older children's lives and I want to be able to support them I never lost custody of these 2. I don't care about the money but my other children need help to. I can't afford to go to the court house and even file for visitation. No one will talk to me about any of this, they say I have to go before a judge and that cost money. I was told that if I sign over my rights and she adopts the child support gets squashed. If that were to happen I can take all that money and divide it into 3 and all my kids will get the support money. I don't see my daughter, don't get me wrong I want to I love her I raised her for the first 2 1/2yrs but all I'm trying to do is build my life back up she has another life and I don't want to mess it up more than I already have. Please help I don't know what to do!!
