    How do I adopt with one parent missing .I. live in Va
    I have had my Grands for 5 years now. I would like to adopt them we live in Va. My son agrees.. The problem is the Mother is missing and has been for about a year. What are the laws in the state of Virginia in a case like this Thank you in advance for your help.

    This is pretty universal. For you to adopt, you will have to try and get the mother's approval or show a good faith effort to do so. What that good faith effort entails may vary from court to court.

    Since you really need an attorney to prepare the paperwork, start shopping for one and the attorney will tell you exactly what you will have to do.
