My grandaughter is nine months old and has lived at my home with her mother until Thursday the 27th January.. since the 2nd of January my daughter has been going off and leaving her daughter in my care.. my daughter has been using drugs during this time and been unable to care for her daughter whenever she came back home.. since 27th January my daughter has removed my grandaughter from my home and she has been taking her to houses where there are drug users and people who are drinking.. I have reported this to police and social work department.. my daughter is now saying that I have not to see my grandaughter again.. she seems to think I want to steal her daughter from her.. all I want is to be able to see my grandaughter and to make sure she is safe.. ther has also been two incidents of my grandaughter falling out her pram and falling off a bed.. resulting on a bruise on her head.. all this has been reported to social services and police.. I would be gratefull for any advice.. I live in scotland..

You have to push social services on this. Tell them your granddaughter is not in a good environment and you fear for her safety. Tell them you are willing to take guardianship of the child. That's probably the only way you can wrest the child from the control of her mother.

You might also consult a solicitor familiar with local laws to see if you have any other options.
