    Guardianship/Custody Issue
I have had permanent legal custody of a little girl who is now 7 years old since she was 3 months old... no parental contact in approximately 7 years. How do I obtain legal custody... she is not related to me in any way.

YOu need to contact a lawyer, probably put an ad in the news paper, and pay a lot of money. And in 6 years the parents could still possibly have legal ground to get her back. Good luck!

What you need to do is file a motion to adopt the child. That's the only step above guardianship that you can legally ask for and its permanent. One of the biggest differences is that the child then becomes your heir and you have complete legal and physical custody of the child without revocation. The only way would be if you mess up your life so bad you become a danger to the child.
