    Fathers rights
    What sort of rights does an absentee father have? I am almost due to give birth and the father of my child has not been around for the last 6 months what sort of rights will he have? Really need help!

    He has the same rights as any other father. Of course, he'll have to file a motion in Family Court in order to assert those rights. Also he'll have to prove paternity, either by signing an acknowledgement or by submitting to a DNA test. He'll then have to pay child support in accordance with the laws of your state. He'll have whatever visitation and/or custody the judge grants him and you'll have to comply with whatever is ordered.
