Do I have to pay Child Support to a pathological gambler?
My name is Wendy and I have 3 children. I was married to a liar and gambler for 21 years. I am a full time teacher of 23 years. He caused me to go bankrupt and after a family assessment, he very slyly lied his way in order to look good, and have the assessor feel pity for him. He has been fired from 9 jobs, chooses not to work full time, and unfortunately has 50% custody of my children. He is an addict, has done many things wrong, like making my children miss school to travel 6 hours out of town to a girlfriend's house. The kids miss school, travel at 3 or for a.m. On the highway, and he succeeded in taking my children to another country without my consent. Now he wants child support from me, when he will be out of a job again in a couple ofmonths. Do I have any recourse? The assessment did not come back full custody for me because they say I react to him, as he encroaches onmy time with my children and has brainwashed my 15 year old son to side with his father. I feel desperate and trapped, as I always put my children's needs first. I think I need a new lawyer?

Can I request answers to a family assessment for custody of children?
I had a family assessment done. She missed out very important information about my ex, and really went out on the limb to make me look bad. The missing information proves that my ex brainwashes my son, (I have 123 pictures from a cell phone), and my ex told my son that his last dying wish is to get me fired from my job! The assessor left this important information out. She also left out that he went across the border to the U.S. Without my knowledge and without consent. Do I have the right to ask for answers about this?

Yes you need a lawyer because if his pay is lower then yours you can end up paying him child support to offset it.

Not working or even doing some gambling is not illegal. So you have to prove he is a unfit parent to take custody away.

If he files for child support and it is award, you have to pay. It may be your attorney, but it may just be the law, things are not always fair. But ifyou lose an he wins a child support order you will have to pay.
