My ex-husband has not paid much of the child support he was ordered to pay ever since our divorce a year ago. The only money that I get is from his unemployment check that he has been getting for the past 7 months which is $100 every two weeks. He is supposed to send $475 monthly, but since he is not working or looking for work that is all I get. But, ever since October, he has been working full time making $1000 a week and STILL claiming unemployment. I have called the child support office, but they say his social security number is not coming out in the system yet. How can I go about finding out who his new employer is without going through an attorney or private investigator?

Several things, first he made a mistake by not going back to court when he lost his job, he could have had child support lowered because of the lower income.

Next you can take him back to court if he is late

I agree with Fr, Chuck. I think your best bet is to take him back to court to enforce litigant's rights. If he's making $1000 a week but still getting away with collecting unemployment benefits then he's probably making the $1000 a week "under the table", in which case his SSN won't come out in the system. But by taking him back to court you can present your evidence to the judge (be sure you have reliable sources, as another poster pointed out) and the judge can modify the order so as to compel him to pay the arrearages and stay current in all future amounts due.

I too am surprised he didn't go to court for a modification after having to go on unemployments. As mentioned above grab all of your proof that you have of him working and making $1,000 a week and go back to court to have the order enforced.
