My mother signed documents (Petition for Appointment of General Conservator) giving Power of Attorney of my grandmother to my aunt. Since then my aunt has been keeping my grandmother from her family and refuses to answer any calls from anyone trying to contact my grandmother. My mother now wishes to have her signature removed/revoked and wishes she had never signed these papers. Can someone tell me what form we need or how to proceed? I have not seen or spoken to my grandmother in almost 6 months. We live in Mississippi. Thanks

First off we need to know if your mother is of sound mind? It will make a difference in the answer.

mustangchristy77 agrees : She has dementia although it is not severe. My aunt says she has Alzheimers but it has not been diagnosed

If your mother is of sound mind then she can assign her poa to a different person if she wishs to do so. Dementia is a hard one to deal with. You may be able to ask her doctor for more info but if they tell you nothing its not because of lack of compassion. The new hippa laws prevent information from being given away. Do you know if the POA is a limited one? Those normally occur when a person may have limited capacity but otherwise are useless. Its to cover situations of need.
