I pleaded guilty 22 years ago to 3 counts of lewd and lucivious act in the presences of a minor (indecent exposure) and then 20 years ago I plead guilty to one gross sexual imposition and one third degree abduction on a 26 year old lady that I had dated for two years. She and I went out one night, got drunk, got into a fight and I was initially charge with rape and kidnapping. I spent time in prison. Since my release, I have earned my college degree, Laude, started my own company, six years ago, and have fathered two beautiful babies, a 33 month old daughter, and a 18 month old son. I was with the mother for four years, and she is three months pregnant. She recently left again; the police got involved and because she left the kids and me while we were on vacation, I brought the babies back to Atlanta wher we live. The police called and gave me a half an hour to drop my babies off to the police. I dropped them off four hours later. I was charged with interference with custody because my children have not been ligitimized. However, I have since hired an attorney to ligitimize the babies. My question, with my past record of 22 years ago, will I be able to gain visitation rights to see my children. I have gotten mixed reviews from different attorneys. Please help.

I have no idea - it will be up to a Judge. I think you might end up with supervised visitation.

Why if you were ordered to return the children in 30 minutes did you wait 4 hours, creating your own problems?

Did they say why or give any reason at all that the children weren't legitimized ? Are you in the divorce process ? Have you even started ? Did she file for custody ?

Have not heard the term legitmized in 30 years.

But you have not in GA gained any legal status in their life, so you are not for some reason on their birth certificate. And you have never went to court because you are not on the birth certificate to prove you are the father by DNA test.

Also I do not see the term married to the mother of the children either.

But you file for custody ( or visitation) your record will make it harder, if you want visits they may require it to be supervised at first. But why are you not going for custody if she left them with you. It is harder but you try for all you can get.
