    Child Support/Rights
My son's father left me when I was pregnant. No contact at all my whole pregnancy. He did not see his son until he was 4 months old. From age 4 months to age 4 he was back and forth. He wasn't the best dad, but he wasn't the worst. He would get him on some weekends when he had his other son and spend time with both. Make a long story short, I moved to MA in 2005. I informed him of this well before the move. He tried to spend a lot of time with him before we made the move. We spoke a FEW times after I moved. In Dec 05 we spoke, and then not again until Dec 06. BTW my son's birthday is in Jan, and there was no phone call. In Dec 06 I broke down on the phone with him saying it wasn't right that he hasn't contacted us for a year, blah blah... We spoke again in early Jan, and as of now I have not spoke to him since. I'm wondering if I press for child support, what right's (if he even wanted any) would he have. Me living so far away I think he would try to push visitaiton only because I'm making him pay. He has 2 other children that he does slim to nothing for. One gets child support, but it's only like $30 a week if that. I'm just not sure that I want to push the issue.

Is he on the birth certificate?

If he is not he has absolutely no rights until he pursues them in court.
If he is, he can exercise his rights whenever he chooses, weather you go for child support or not.

If you are going to file for child support... which you should... be prepared to end up in court for visitation... he will have all the rights any father would and should have.
