In Ohio you cannot sign over your rights, even willingly, unless there is someone in the wing to adopt the child in your place.

In that case you would no longer be responsible for child support, but may still have to pay child support up to the date of the adoption.

May I ask why you want to sign away your rights to your own child?

Yes, you could and most likely would, still be making child support payment even if you terminate your parental rights. If the child were to be adopted, then the child support payments would stop.

Yes, unless a step parent was adopting, merely signing away rights has nothing to do with child support in most areas. So yes you will have to continue to pay support, just never see the child or have anything to do with the child.

It is very difficult to get parental rights terminated. A coiurt will not allow you to give up your rights just to get out of paying support.

You have to accept that you have to pay child support. In my view not your ex-husband makes your life a hell.Your past makes your life a hell.

Turn it around. Show your daughter how you learend from the mistakes of your youth and have become a better person. Tell her you hope she can learn from your mistakes so as not to make them.

This is true. Of course, it really isn't wise for the ex to boast that her CS payments are buying him beer and a new car, whether it's true or not.
