    Birth Certificate
    I will have a baby in July 2009. And I'm still with the babies dad.. we are not married.. but we are worried if we don't get married and I put him on the birth certifcate the state will make him pay something? Is it true? I live in Ohio

    He will not have to pay child support unless you go to court and make him pay.

    Not entirely true. If the OP is receiving state assistance and isn't living with the child's father, then he will be ordered to pay child support. Some states will require him to also repay a portion of the birth expenses.

    Right, the state will order it but it still has to be an order from the court. Plus she says she is with the dad.

    Obviously the court orders the support; that's not even the argument here. The state requests it from the court and if she is on state aid and not living with the child's father, she will get child support regardless of if she wants it or not. Just because she's "with" the dad doesn't mean they reside together.
