I am paying 114.92 weekly for one child in Tn and only 96.00 weekly for one child in Ny. I think I am paying too much for one child in Tn. Do you think 114.92 is too much child support for one child?

What is too much depends on how much you make, and the cost of living in your area.

I know a guy paying over $7,000 a month. But then, he is wealthy.

To be honest, it sounds like a very small amount of money to support a child. If you start proceedings to reduce it, remember that you will end up having to explain to your child why he is not worth 114.92.

Sure let your child know that they are worth only 16.5 per day. I mean that really goes a long way to feeding and clothing them and keeping a roof over their heads.

No of course it's not too much. If you lived with your child you would be spending a lot more than that. Think of daycare, school lunches, clothes, sports fees, medicine, health insurance oh yeah and those other pesky things known as shelter and food.

With a question like that I wonder if you support your children's emotional needs at all.

Each state has its own guidelines on how much child support to pay, depending on your income. Which order is older, TN or NY? I ask that because allowances are given for multiple children, which could explain why the NY amount is lower than the TN amount. What income figure was each order based on? Was the TN order based on a higher income amount than the NY order? Actually, all things being equal, I would think NY would charge more for child support than TN, since cost of living and incomes are typically higher in NY than in TN. All things considered, you're paying just over $200 a week for two children. I'd actually say that was quite typical so I don't think you're really 'overpaying."
