My new asphalt driveway started cracking and skinking within 8 months. What now?
I had a new asphalt driveway installed August '09 - gravel, 3" blacktop. By April I noticed cracks along the edges. More cracks are appearing weekly. One area of the driveway also sank so snow plow can't clean that area. How long should the driveway last? What recourse do I have?

    Hi, brendastar!

Do you have some kind of written guarantee or warranty from the people who installed it, please?

    Thanks!

No, unfortunately I never asked for a warranty. I was naïve! But even without a waranty, I would think the driveway should hold up at least a year. What would 'normal' expectations be for a new driveway, installed by a professional company?

Asphalt Driveway Resurface [ 5 Answers ]

Our existing asphalt driveway is 21 years old and looks it. We were going to replace it with concrete, but with quotes coming in at around $5K to $6K, when I stopped crying I realized resurfacing the asphalt is the wise choice. The driveway is 25' long by 17' wide. It does have a puddling...
