Funeral seating for ex-wife and children of the deceased
I am the ex-wife (10 years), with 2 children to the deceased, aged 15 and 19. I would like to sit with my children, but am told I can't. The deceased's ex-facto is to sit in the front row with my children, the mother of the deceased and his brother and brother's family. I have offered to sit immediately behind the family with my children, but this has been refused. What is the protocol in this situation?

Right behind the children on 2nd row

The funeral home normally does seating, not the family

I would talk with the funeral director. He/she should be the one to determine all this. Good luck.

I have no idea what the accepted etiquette is but I think it would depend a great deal on the relationship you have with the ex.

Since your are attending and your children are young I assume that you were on decent terms with your ex and that your first priority now is to support your children. Given that I would agree that right behind your children is perfectly logical and acceptable.

jordii, it's nice of you to help, but this is 40 days old and the funeral is over. Plus she said that her offer to sit in the second row was refused.
