My mom just isn't fair.
My mom just isn't fair, last year I asked if I could get a phone for my birthday and I've been asking all this year if I could get a phone, and my 11 year old sister says she wants an iPod on her birthday, and its like STEP! And they got her one, its not fair, I just need someone to talk to cause I'm so lonely right now. :(

Have you asked for an iPod? I mean asking for a phone means your parents have to pay the bill.
And iPod if the songs are coming from CDs she has previously bought there is no extra bill.

Your parents probably think that a 14 year old doesn't need a phone and it's true. I got a phone when I was 18. An iPod is differnent from a phone. You have to pay phone bills for a phone and have a phone plan. If you go over your minutes or limits you have to pay more.. It's a hassle. I would say a phone is more appropriate once you start driving just in case you have an accident or problem. You will probably learn to drive soon so you should ask for one then. Otherwise, you can save up for it and pay the bills for it too, which is what a lot of kids did when I was in middle school/high school.

So you've been asking for a phone for your birthday all this year, and 'no' hasn't sunk in yet. Why does this make your mother unfair?
Your 11 year old sister that you refer to as 'STEP!', I take it to mean, is some sort of second class citizen, because, she is not your REAL sister? You make her out to be unworthy of a gift of an iPod, when it isn't you buying it in the first place. What makes you think you have any say whatsoever, in who is entitled to which gift, when, and by who's 'status' in the family?
Nobody owes you a gift, just because you are having a birthday. Anything you receive you should be grateful for. A birthday cake, a nice dinner, a card. But, again, nobody is required to buy you a gift, let alone a gift you demand, let alone a gift you see that should be at least, equal to the gift that was given to your STEP! As you refer to her.
You feel slighted and underappreciated, as you implied. Somehow, your halo isn't noticed by all your servants, and shame on them! You deserve a phone!
If only because of your bad attitude and princess status, I wouldn't buy you a piece of cheese, let alone a thoughtful gift.
In my opinion you don't deserve it.

I took that as she meant her sister took one step and got what she wanted?

I took it to mean step sister, who knows. Either way, this kid has a bad entitlement attitude.

I just don't think she understands the responsibility of having a mobile is. I didn't get a mobile till I started working. My mum got the mobile but I had to buy my own credit.
She is young I doubt she has a job and won't realise what it is like owning a mobile till she has to pay for it herself. Till she has to pay for it she will rack the phone bill up or fly through credit. I glad her parents said no. I don't think KIDS need mobiles!
