I have a HUGE HUGE problem. I am having problems with my ex husband and I "had" emails where my ex husband indicates certain terms of our agreement. THat he would pay me (X) amount of alimony each month, pay off my car, my car insurance, health ins, and dental ins. For one year. I had accidentally deleted those emails because he is now failing to keep his end of the bargain, but I don't know how to retrieve those emails. I thought if it were court ordered and I'm taking him to court and I would be using those emails as evidence, would I be able to retrieve those emails? Would I need to contact Google who hosts www.gmail.com? I could definitely use the advice, even if I can just somehow retrieve those emails. As of now he owes me about $20,000 and I don't want to get cheated. PLEASE HELP!!

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

If you deleted them, its unlikely they can be recovered. You would have to contact Google and it may require a court order to get them IF (and that's a BIG if) they are available.

I must say that any agreement you have should have been part of the court decree.

I think she's saying she's going to court NOW to get an order to turn their emailed agreements into court-ordered requirements. Did I read that right?

Scott is right. Contact Google and ask them for help, explain the situation fully and don't bother asking for copies of other people's emails, just ones YOU sent. Hopefully it's in there, somewhere.

Don't let your ex know you've misplaced them. Sometimes just dummy pieces of paper can be used to trick the other party into providing you copies of what THEY have on hand, and then you're back in business.
