    Will a 208 volt 3 phase mixer work off a 240 volt 3 phase service?
    I have 240 volt 3 phase service and I have a 208 volt 3 phase mixer. Can I hook it up to the 240 volt 3 phase service? Also I have a 208 volt 3 phase oven will it work for that as well?

    No name plate on the mixer? Call the Mfg. and ask. My guess would be yes... but you need to verify with the mfg. 'Most" equipment will work with a -15% / +15% voltage variance. But verify first.

    I would say yes. 110vs120, compatible

    220vs240, compatible.

    208 would fall into the category of 220/240.

    The most important part is that it is three phase. The next step up would be 480 three phase. I believe that 208 three phase would be just fine on a 240 three phase, I think its basically the same thing. (electricians, please correct me if I'm wrong).

    True 90% of the time. But there are instances where it does make a difference.

    The data plate might even answer his question, it may say something to to tune of "VOLTAGE 200-250" or something of that nature.

    Older mixers would probably be all right, but newer machines can be real finicky.

    If I can't find it in the book, I can find out Monday for sure.

    I won't kill a motor too quickly, but 208v 3-phase is NOT the same thing as 240v 3-phase.

    Don't forget, 240v 3-phase has a high leg. If this is a 5-wire circuit (having a neutral) you'd better be sure the 120v loads are not on the high leg.

    We install 208 and 240 equipment all the time ( Ok, I sell and don't do the actual install)

    We come across machines all the time, I see at least one a week, where a motor has gone out early from not being the right voltage.

    They normally will just go out early, shorten the life of the motor
