What wire should I use ?
I have 1000 feet to go from my electrical supply to my well, I was planning on going with 120/240 wire buired in a trench 18" deep. The other end will have a well pump rated at 2K watts, plus some ligths, etc. I was figuring no more than 20 amps. So the question is, what is better, least cost ?

    1. run 8-3 UF direct burial cable ?
    Or
    2. 3/4 pvc sch 40 pipe with four individual 8 gauge wires inside ?

    Or something else ?

Wow! 1000 feet?? WHY so far?

Anyway, figuring a load of 16A, @ 240v (the 120v stuff will be incidental) you are going to need #2cu. I would run this in conduit definitely.
A load of 10A would require on #4cu.
