    Switched and unswitched
    Is it possible to wire a series of 8 receptacles in a room with the 3rd, 5th, & 7th switched while the others stay unswitched?

    Yes, if you use 3-wire. You can have one hot switched and the other constant. You can then choose which receptacles you want switched and which live all the time.
