Hi, I have an old ceiling fan. The chain of the speed switch broke and the fan stayed on constantly. I bought a 3-4 wire switch. The old switch had only 3 wires ! (no place for a fourth) The wires were organized red, blue, black. There are no numbers or letters on the old switch. Next...

Replaced the pull chain switch but it is only going to High/Low speeds.. won't shut off. Guessing I have the wiring wrong but I have different color wires then most other post. Any help would be appreciated. My fan has Black, Red, White and Yellow wires to be placed into the switch.

We just replaced the 3-speed switch on our ceiling fan but the blades are turning very slowly and not changing speed at all. This was the problem we were having prior to changing the switch. Is there something else that could be wrong with it?
