    No red wire to connect
Trying to hang a ceiling fan with a remote. There is a red wire coming from the ceiling, but no red wire from the motor for connection. There is a white, orange, black and white coming from the motor. What to do with the red wire?

Electrical wiring is not nearly always color for color. It is rarely as simple as black to black, white to white, red to red.

What wires are coming from the ceiling?
If that is all the wires from the fan then you have a weird one. Is the remote receiver internal in the fan, or does it sit in the canopy?

Just use the black and white (and of course ground) from the ceiling. Ignore the red.
Then follow the instructions for the remote unit for the rest of the wiring.
