Harbor Breeze Ceiling fan/light won't work
Got a Harbor Breeze ceiling fan with a remote. Can't get lights or fan to turn on, either from the wall switch or the remote. Bulbs okay (tried them in a different lamp). Tried new battery in the remote and also put in a new wall switch, but no luck.

Thinking that the remote receiver in the fan is cooked. Can I just remove it and wire it as a normal light that operates only from the wall switch? If so, I have the normal white-to-white, black-to-black, and ground wires, so that's easy. But... there's a capped black wire in the ceiling box and a blue wire that goes from the fan/light unit to the remote receiver. Do I mate these two together?

Many thanks for any help -
