    Fan works by itself
Our ceiling fan w/3 light bulbs has been doing things by itself. Worked fine after being installed by an electrition. Time went by but then it started with the light turning itself on. Then it turned itself on & then off. It then started the fan on by itself, usually low. The day that really was creepy was when the fan started up on high & would not shut off. We have a hand control. We had to use the light switch on the wall to turn it off but then it would not turn back on. So, an electrician installed a new remote/hand control. Well, it continued to happen & so we had the electrician install another new one. Also, each time one was purchased, we had to be sure it was not one returned to the store as they just taped it back up & returned it with the others. Today the electrition installed another NEW control/remote but now it will do nothing. He checked it before he left & all fan settings & all lights worked, several times. We can't figure out why it does this when we've had different electricians install & test that it all works only to have the fan "do its own thing". It's been inspected, taken down, replaced & whatever someone can do but it still does its own thing. What do we do?

Does your neighbor have a remote for his fan? If so he may be inadvertly controlling your fan and you could be controlling his.

My first thought to this controlling on its own.
