I sprayed cleaner toward the wall in my bathroom and a drop of water somehow went into the receptacle. I heard a pop, then the light went out over the sink. My husband has replaced the switch but it doesn't come back on. Can you give me a clue about what can be done to fix this?

That outlet should be a GFI outlet. There should be a test and reset button on it. If that outlet does not have a test and reset button there may a GFI outlet another bath. If you do not have a GFI outlet in a another bath go to circuit breaker panel. There should be a breaker with a test and reset button. Press the reset button.

You first say it sprayed "into the receptacle" and then say changed "switch". What exactly was changed. If it was a ground fault receptacle, which we will hope since it is in the bath, and that is what was replaced, they are normally set with the test button tripped. Push the reset button in until you hear a click. You may heed a screwdriver to push it in all the way, my fat fingers don't always do it. If the same GF is in the wall, follow the above procedures.

It is the plug-in, located in the wall behind the sink. We tried the reset button but no luck. My husband also replaced the plug-in. No luck. Now we are at a loss what to do next.

Have you tried resetting the breaker? Turn off then turn back on.
