Hampton Bay ceiling fan remote control problem
I have a Hampton Bay Redington III ceiling fan whose remote control is acting strangely. The remotes (two) will turn on the lights (and dimmer works) and the fan will run on High but the fan low and medium settings don't work. The fan reverse works too. I opened the fan circuitry to change the frequency (for the heck of it - it didn't help) but while the circuitry cover is off, the remote will work for low and medium. After I reinstalled the cover, it goes back to the problem (no low and medium). Thought it might be the battery, but both remotes are doing the same thing. Any thoughts?

A dirty eye perhaps on the unit?
