Hunter fan remote broken. I think?
Hi, tried searching past answers but didn't find anything.. hopefully this isn't like some of the other forums where you get flamed, but anyway..

My hunter fan with pullstrings isn't working correctly. I think it's the remote, and the buttons on the remote are worn out so they don't depress all the way down. I switched the buttons so that the fan will turn on, and use the wall switch to turn it off. The pull chains only work with the light, not the fan. Once the fan is on, I can adjust the speed with the pull chain, but can't turn it on or off. I wish I could, so I could fly the damn remote off the balcony. Oh, don't know the fan model, but the remote has 22788/22798 at frequency of 310.

Any suggestions? New remote that'll work with this fan? Could I somehow wire the fan differently? Buy a new fan without a remote? Sorry, I would search more online or tinker with the fan, but I have a newborn and don't have too much time on my hands..

    Thanks for any help..

Open up the ceiling canopy, remove the remote receiver, wire the fan without it. It should then work from the pullchains and you can throw the remote as far as your eyes can see.
