    Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan (no fan or light!)
    Hello,
    I recently bought a home that has hampton bay ceiling fans in it. Yesterday, one of them mysteriously and suddenly stopped working. Neither the fan nor the light works. It is a remote controlled fan, with no pullswitch. The remote works fine, batteries were checked (remote will actually control ceiling fan in another room - so I know its not faulty) I even toggled the dip switches in the remote to all 16 combinations to no avail. I checked the power, the fuse is not blown - I am assuming it's a bad receiver in the fan. I called Home Depot - which is the main carrier of Hampton Bay fans - and they said they cannot help me if I do not have a receipt or proof of purchase - Obviously, I do not since I did not buy the fan - it was in the house already when I bought the house! What am I supposed to do now? I have a ceiling fan over my dining room table with no light or fan!

    Before you replace receiver, verify you have power to top of fan. Put switches back to where they were. If you do not know, look at receiver and match.
    No breakers tripped or switches turned off?

    Call Hampton Bay, get them to send you a new receiver. Or bring the whole fan to Home Depot and exchange it, they DO do non-receipt returns, they just try to discourage it.

    Where is the receiver? I'm trying to set the code on the remote to match but I don't know where the switches are on the fan. The remote stopped working for no apparent reason.

    Either in the canopy, in the motor housing, or in the switch housing near the light.

    I don't mean to sound stupid but can you explain in layman's terms? I don't know where to find any of those places. Are those places I can get to without major deconstruction of the fan?

    Places to check:

    1. Right above the light fixture, but below the blades.
    2. Inside the ceiling cover
    3. On top of the motor.
