Hello,

I have a Victorian home which has had the wiring partially updated (previous owners). I would like to add new wiring to the 2nd and 3rd floor, but would like to run it on the outside wall.

My plan was install PCV conduit (tube) near the panel in the basement through the wall and up towards the 2nd and 3rd floor. I would then branch out and run the conduit into a 2nd and 3rd floor wall.

The new wiring would be pulled through the conduit into each floor then branched out to each room as necessary.

Is this an acceptable method?

Since it is common in commercial and industrial locations, I would think it is OK for a residence. Strikes me as ugly. As long as you stick to uninsulated interior walls, it isn't that hard to fish wires up through them. There may even be some chases added along with plumbing you could use.

Old houses seem to have aton of paths to run wire in. But if you really do not wish to cut open walls or take off molding... check out Wiremold. They offer a bunch of lines of product that just may suit your needs. It isn't just the plain 500 and 700 series chase that one might see in an office.
