Question regarding transfer switch for generator.
I have a 60 amp 10,000 watt generator and need to purchase a manual transfer switch, but what kind? I have a 200amp service and don't need an automatic transfer switch just manual. Could anyone tell me? Would a 60amp manual transfer switch be OK?

A manual switch is fine, however, sounds like you plan to refeed your entire 200 amp panel with a 60 amp generator feed.
That is fine, as long as you are very aware of the loads you have on when on generator, so as not to overload the generator. Your method allows any circuit in the home to be used during a power failure. Just need to be careful. |

Yes I understand what you are saying and yes my initial thought was to feed a transfer switch one leg from the electric company and one from my generator but now doing more research I found that to be expensive being I have a 200 amp service. So now my thought is... buying a sub panel transfer switch which has 12circuit breakers in it so I could power just the necessities such as heat hot water re fridge washer and dryer possibly and lights. But still my question would be do I buy any 60amp transfer switch? Could you maybe recommend one for me?
