    More Hampton Bay Ceiling Fans
    I'm in an apartment that has a Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan. There is only the one bulb inside of the globe, and it has burned out. There aren't any exterior screws and I have no idea how to get the globe off. As it's not a fan that I purchased, I couldn't say what the model is. Any idea how I get into this thing to change the bulb?

    Usually the glass removes-- you push up on it and rotate it until it slips out.

    There is usually a nod under the globe that you can easily loosen it by finger

    A lot of the fans have glass with no visible screws.

    Try to unscrew the globe by turning it counter clockwise, this will work it may be kind of tight.

    This is actually for all who were kind enough to answer my question.

    I ultimately had to have my landlord send somebody in to change it. When I tried to turn it counterclockwise, there was a little bit of give, but then it just started turning the mounting. I decided to stop trying - if the fan was going to break, it wasn't going to be me standing underneath it. Well, the landlord came in and gave it a might tweak and though it did loosen the mounting a little, it did finally come loose.:o

    Now the problem is that it requires a special sized bulb that I have to order from Lowe's. I mean, I have a bulb in it and it works, but the globe won't go back on because the standard sized bulb is too large.

    It's always something, right? At least I have light, now. :p

    Make sure they check the mounting. However if it is the ball rotating in the socket assembly, that's OK. Just make sure it is properly seated before using the fan again.

    Yeah, I made sure of that before he left, as it was very loose when I moved in and had already had him fix it once before.
