    Load calculation
How is the load for a sub-panel calculated? I had asked this in another post but never found an answer. This for a laundry room with a 240 volt /30 amp dryer and two 20 amp 120 volt ckt and one 15 amp 120 volt ckt. The feed line is apox. 25 feet. What size breaker should I install in the main panel?

Bare minimum size feeder will be a 60 amp breaker using #6 copper wire.

I would run #2 aluminum wire and protect the new panel with a 100 Amp breaker.

    If I used # 6 copper, can I use # 8 copper for a neutral?

What type of wire( covering )and what would the size of the conduit be?

Use #6 for the neutral. The wire can be THHN/THWN in 1 inch conduit. You will also need a #10 green for the equipment ground in addition to the three #6's.

Be sure it keep the neutral insulated and isolated at the panel, and use an equipment ground bar bolted directly to the metal box of the panel using machine thread screws, for all bare or green equipment grounds
