    Light won't stay on... cuts out after 1 second.
    Would like to know what the promblem is with my lighting portion of my ceiling fan. There's a black 3 wire box inside canopy and it smells burnt. Switch has been changed... not the problem. Can we identify that component and replace?

    Likely a capacitor but a picture would help.
