How can I connect 2 chandeliers together and control with one switch?
I just purchased two mini-chandeliers, and want to convert them to from hardwired to swag. I purchased a swag kit at my local home improvement store. The part that is confusing me is how to connect the two chandeliers together so that they can both be controlled by the same outlet (i.e. the same light switch) without having a ton of cords running along the ceiling and down the wall.

Is this possible and relatively easy? Or would it be easier and safer to just buy another swag kit and just hang them independently? I am a total newbie, and just purchased my first home... I am LOST when it comes to this stuff and trying to find my way!

    Thank you in advance!

The best way to do this is to run a wire in the ceiling from the first ceiling box to another newly installed box. Pigtail black, white and ground and 1 switch will control both. Remember to install a rated ceiling box, not an "old work" box. If you are lucky, the joists will be running with the wire, not across it and then this is an easy job. Good luck.

Did you have an old ceilinglight before and will work off that box or is this currently a blank ceiling?

It is a blank ceiling, and I definitely don't have the know-how to open up the ceiling and install wiring up there.

The ceiling box... would this require there already being a ceiling fixture up there? There's none currently...

    Greetings,

I understand from your post that you unskilled with respect to electrical wiring so I thought it wise to spend some time educating you on how we think.

For example, you used the term "Hardwired". To us, that means that there is already an outlet box in the ceiling and a functioning light, associated wiring is already in place.

The way I understood your question was that you currently have two hardwired lights and that you want to convert them to swag lights. Is this true or is it the other way around?

Do you have two swag lights that you would like to hardwire and then operate from a single switch?

Unfortunately yes. I inferred a box and switch since you used the term "hardwired". You will need an electrician and cut open the ceiling to get a good safe installation.

Yes, that is correct - I have two lights that are meant to be hardwired to the ceiling, but I need to convert them to swag lights.
