Ceiling fan speed control

I have a 3 speed ceiling fan. The medium and slow speeds seem to work OK but the fast speed setting runs somewhere between slow and medium. Could it be a switch problem or the speed controller? I'm pretty sure it is a Hampton Bay. Sure hate to replace a $200 fan when I can repair it.
Hunter ceiling fan remote control

I have 2 hunter fans in each of 2 bedrooms. The same remotes works both fans. I cannot separate the two. They each claim to have a different code inside the battery door. Every time I turn on one the other comes on also. Any suggestions?? Thanks

I have a Moss Hi Line model HFL ceiling fan. It was purchased 1983. The pull switch went bad and someone else disassembled it leaving no diagrams. I have a ceiling fan that is too high to get too easily to adjust the speeds. It has three speeds with a pull chain.
