Harbor breeze fan / Dimmer switch wall control
Hello. I recently purchased a Harbor Breeze ceiling fan and a light/fan dual dimmer switch from Lowe's. We had both installed and it seemed to have worked fine for a week. Then I smelled something that smelled like burning copper(?) and realized that it was the switch that was installed in the wall. We turned off the electricity and took out the wall dimmer switch and found that it was burnt and melting. What should we do?

The switch says that it can handle 1.25amp... did it burn because it could not handle the load used by the fan or is it a wiring issue?

    Thanks.

How many lights are on the fan? 1.25 amps = 150 watts. Replace the switch and be sure you're not using too many watts.
