I purchased an outdoor Harbor Breeze ceiling fan Baja model with the wide fan blades and used an outdoor rated extension cord (16 gauge and about 20ft long) to rig the electrical since I have no power source where it is hanging outdoor. I also used a Hunter remote. I think I connected everything properly. Anyway, I can control the fan between low, mid, high fan speed. But I think high speed seems slow. Reason why is if I stand underneath the fan I hardly feel a breeze. Blades are counterclockwise rotation. I also reversed the rotation. Nothing... Am I drawing enough power ? Should I change the remote to Harbor Breeze brand ? Or remove the remote/receiver and see if any difference by pulling on chain to control speed ? Thanks.

You can try removing the receiver, but I bet it is the wide blades.

Looks like it is the wide blades. I returned it to the store and purchased a different fan instead.

No that's how they are. Mine is very slow and it's connected to the house wiring inside my ceiling. I think one reason is because the blades are so large. Another reason is related - because the blades are so large and somewhat flimsy [plastic] they wobble. That's probably the fastest it can go without being impossible to balance. As it is it took me a long time to get it secure enough that it doesn't make noise from wobbling. Putting weights on the blades seemed to have little effect. I finally put some huge washers under the mounting plate to make it as secure as I could in two axes because the ceiling joists I screwed it to only run in one direction.

Good luck. You may want to take it back and go with something else. This is the only Lowe's brand fan I own. The others are all Hunter. I've had the fan for a couple years, but the reason I found your post is because I am looking for some other blades to try. Like the wooden palm type blades. I think the Harbor Breeze are plastic though.

I looked all over eBay and the web. The only place to get blades for Harbor Breeze is Lowe's. If it helps any the distance between the two crossways holes is 60 mm. The distance from either of these holes to the third hole is 55 mm.

Since my last post I replaced my fan with a Hunter Royal Palm. The motor is silent, unlike the buzzing Baja, and it moves more air. The Hunter ceiling mount has four rubber feet for stability in two axes. The Baja mount only contacts the ceiling in two places. The Hunter is much better balanced out of the box. For $50-$70 more the Hunter is a lifetime purchase, whereas I'm retiring the Baja after a few years.

It's really not a good buy.

You can get replacement blades from anywhere but you would need to drill them to fit.

Hunters are MUCH better fans than Hampton Bay and Harbor Breeze, for only slightly more.

Had the same issue. I thought that the speed switch was bad, but when I disassembled the fan I found something a little more unexpected. There is a resistor block located inside of the light kit. Power is sent through one of three resistors in this block (depending on the pull switch position) to control speed. The block inside my fan had literally melted. It still operated on all three speed settings, but only had two noticeable speeds. I have not been able to find a replacement part anywhere and the fan has been like this since it was new.
