    Hampton bay hookup, I forgot
I have a Hampton bay ceiling fan which came with the hand held remote... I am reinstalling it in a new location and forgotten the hook up... My black & white Power go the AC of the transmitter... and the balck & white from the fan itself go to the black & white (motor) of the transmitter... what I can't seem to remember is what to do with blue (light) wire coming fom the transmitter... My fan only has the black and white wire, yet I have a light kit...

    Any help

    Thanks

The blue wire may not be used if you don't have a light too. Try capping it off, and see if the fan works OK.

The fan has a light... but only 2 wires white & black... maybe the blue from the transmitter gets hooked to the white of the fan... just fishing I guess..

    Thanks

I don't know if your remote control has separate control for lite and fan... but Don't CONNECT THE WHITE TO THE BLUE ( test it out first... ussually color wire (HOT) don't connect with the white(neutral))

The blue wire from the remote likely goes to the black or other colored wire from the light. And yes, don't connect it directly to the white.

The only 2 wires coming from the fan is black and white...

The hand held remote controls the fan/light independently as well as the fan direction.

I can't believe I forgot how to wire it... I should have written it down when I removed it.

The hand held remote is the transmitter. The fan has a receiver. The blue wire may go to another contact on the fan receiver for the reverse function.

Ok, the fan only has two wires, black and white, plus ground, correct?

This means one of two things

    1. The blue wire is missing
    2. The fan has a built in remote receiver.

Did you buy the fan new? What did it come with?

Does it have pullchains or any switches on the fan body?
