    Electrical supply to a well
I am homeowner, Wichita, Kansas & have a new cased well with submersed pump (240v.) Before I have electrician out to wire pump to house, can you tell me what the NEC requirements are? I would like to know what to expect, short of the city's modification of NEC to fit "local code". Wire will go direct bury 50-55 ft from well to back wall of garage, where disconnect & j-box were already installed. Well head is visible from disconnect. What are trench depths for conduit vs direct-bury? Existing landscaping is an issue, here. Have schedule spec's changed for plastic conduit? There is no j-box on outside of well head & although pump wires are at top of well head, no wires have been led to the outside of well casing. If needed, is electrician allowed to access well head to run wires outside of well head AND is a j-box required at well head, when a disconnect is on the outside garage wall? One electrician told me in passing that he was not allowed inside the well head & to contact the driller. The driller said that it was the electrician's responsibility. Apparently, city inspectors have electrical contractors so scared, they won't take any risky responsibility, or something. I have had a very frustrating experience trying to get info from our city inspection bureaucracy, & also from their website. Rob in Wichita

As an electrician, in over 20 years I have never had to wire a well head. The plumber/well guy runs the wire into the house and we pick it up there.
We wire the pressure switch and run the circuit.

No MAIN electricity in the car. Only BRAKE light on the instrument panel is lit and maybe KEY light. I don't think they are significant, because Headlights, Emergency 4-blinkers, Inside light (on the roof), even radio don't get electricity. I tried it 10 times today. Occasionally MAIN...
