Ceiling fan works, but the light does not
We have a ceiling fan and last week, pulled the chain to turn off the light. Replaced the switch twice and changed light bulbs and still does not work.
Took fixture to a lighting store to find replacement(not available). The salesman looked at light fixture,said it was wired correctly. He put a bulb in it and tested it and it worked at the store. He suggested we sandpaper to tabs where the light bulbs screw in, and we did. Took it home, hooked up the wires, and the light still does not work. Fan still works. Took it apart and rechecked connections and no results. New light put in my Hampton Bay ceiling fan, but then after a few days, no light bulbs work but fan runs fine, why is this happening?:confused:
After about 4 months of use, this began to happen. I would try to turn on the fan (either Low Med or High) and the fan would barely turn. Sometimes it would work - this lasted for about 5 days. Since then, if you try to turn on the fan, you get no response. Now, the light will still turn on...
The brand is "Turn of the Century" & was purchased at Menards/ We checked out what was recommended in the "troubleshooting" area of the directions.
Took old fan down put new one up wired it the same way,and when power is turned back on the lights and fan work but when you try to turn them off with the switch they won't go off.
