    Ceiling Fan Won't Turn
Harbor Breeze Cheshire ceiling fan installed in Feb 08. It has been working just fine. Sometime last night (April 1st, no foolin') it stopped turning. The light works just fine, but the motor won't turn the blades.

When the pull chain is pulled to turn the fan on, you can hear a very slight hum, feel a tiny vibration (as if it wants to turn) put can't. With the fan turned off, the blades are very stiff to turn. They do not free spin as normal.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Sounds to me like the motor is burnt. If your hearing the all too often HUM. You can try and turn the fan on, then manually turn the blades to see if it will start. BUT< IMO the motor has went south. Others may have other ideas

Either something is stuck in it, or it's bearing issues. Open it up and confirm nothing is caught. It's too new for the bearing problems to be normal, so return it to the store.

The motor rarely burns out, and if it does, it's not repairable. Probably under warranty.

Usually it's the capacitor that burns up. Easy fix.
