I've had a ceiling fan with a remote for a few years and lately it has been acting possessed. I'll turn the fan on using the remote before I go to bed. Early in the morning, I'll hear the "click" of the remote and the fan will turn off without is having touched anything. When we try to turn the fan back on using the remote, it won't work. The wall switch and remote are completely unresponsive. I'll try to turn the fan on again at night and it will work just fine. What is going on?

I know that there can sometimes be interference with other frequencies or that a neighbor could be using a remote with the same frequency. That dones't seem to be the case here because the remote stops working completely for several hours, than it will start working again. Someone at Lowe's suggested that we are having power surges and that there is some kind of a circuit breaker in the remote that is causing it to turn off, and that it resets itself after a few hours. I can't find anything about a circuit breaker on this remote though.

There have also been occasions where I'll come home and the light will be on. In those cases, I can press the light button on the remote and the light will turn off. In that case I think the problem might be caused by another remote, but this issue is different as the remote becomes non responsive.

Any ideas? Help!!
