    Ceiling Fan Switch Wiring Diagram
    The wires on my switch are orange,yellow, pruple and black I put them in the new switch with L being orange, yellow -1 , purple-2, black-3 like the old switch and it doesn't do anything but you can hear the power come on could the way the new switch is wired be different

    We need more info, switches do not have wires so tell us what wires are coming from the fan and if there is a light kit. What brand and model fan would help. What happened with the old switch

    OK the switch I am replacing is a 3 speed fan switch and the wires that are attached to it are orange, yellow,purple and black. I connected these wires to the new switch and that's when I get power but the fan isn't turning. It does have a light kit but I don't know the brand name of the fan

    Is this a three speed pull chaain switch from the fan or a three speed switch in the wall box?

    I aplogize for my earlier statement that switches do not have wires, a pull chain switch does have wires. Not all pull chain switches are alike, do you know this new switch is made for your exact fan?
